Isaac Leung (P.Eng.) got a degree in Engineering Physics followed by a Master's in Electrical Engineering after which he promptly got a job as a product engineer at a company which makes high speed datacom chips. Following the dot-com meltdown, he's back at school studying biophysics and optical properties of semiconductors. He is old enough to have cut his computer teeth on Commodore 64's and first played with OS/2 1.3 EE while at a summer job with IBM. The first PC he ever owned came with Windows 95, but he soon slapped on OS/2 Warp 3 and has been Warping ever since. In between looking for a new job, he plots to take over the world.

Advertise with OS/2 e-Zine

From The Editor

I apologize to all our loyal readers for the delay in getting this month's issue out. Don't worry though, there is nothing wrong with OS/2 e-Zine. If anything, there's too many things going right!

Have I got a job for you...

We'd be dead if there were no longer any things to write about. Reminiscing about the past doesn't count.

My problem is (and it's a great problem to have)... there are too many things to write about! There's still a ton of software reviews to be done. There's a long list of "how-to" or tips articles for OS/2 that are just begging to be done.

I can't do both, so I count on a small band of writers every month. (Thank you!) Do you have some spare time on your hands? How about a little "homework"? :-) Come on, if you're going to use that OS/2 system of yours for something, why not write for OS/2 e-Zine? You'll be famous!

Just send me an e-mail, I can give you a topic and you whip it up in your favourite text editor, word processor or whatever.

Did you know...

That the OS/2 command line has a "history"? Of course you did, you just scroll up and down through your commands all the time using the cursor keys. But did you know it has automatic completion of your history?

For example, if you entered the following command:

clifi /A:c /r2:test.rsp /R:FIBASE.RSP /b:C: /S:F:\OS2IMAGE\FI\ /L2:clifi_inst.hst

And then you went off and did 20 other commands. You don't have to scroll up 20 times to get this back. Just type in the first few characters, e.g. "cli" and press the F1 key, it will automatically complete the command using the most recently used command starting with the sequence of letters that you typed in. Nice! (For you UNIX/Linux people, this is equivalent to the "!" command. For example, for the same effect in Linux, you would type "!cli"). It's very handy.
